Stephonie Denise “Ann” Hagewood, 50, enjoyed gardening and writing poetry

LELAND — Stephonie Denise “Ann” Hagewood, 50, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016.

Ann was born Aug. 19, 1966, to John and Frances Hill in Andrews, Texas. She didn’t know a stranger and was always putting others before herself. Ann was very proud of her children and grandchildren; she was a loving mother and Grammy who had the biggest heart. She loved her family, she enjoyed gardening, and writing poems. Ann touched many people’s lives and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by a brother John David Hill Jr.; and her partner, James Monroe Sherrill Jr.

Survivors include her parents, John and Frances Hill of Andrews, Texas; two sons, Justin Hagewood of Leland and Joshua Hagewood, and his wife, Ashley of Boiling Spring Lakes; daughter, Samantha Hagewood of Leland; special niece who was like a daughter, Kelly Whitehead of Tarboro; sister, Delina Parks of Gun Barrel City, Texas; and five grandchildren, Nicholas Hagewood, Jordan Hagewood, Peyton Hagewood, Penelope Bryan and Kendall Hagewood.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clay Weed officiating.
