NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Now that Christmas is over, are you wondering what to do with that evergreen living in your home?

New Hanover County Environmental Management is offering free Christmas tree recycling now through Feb. 1, according to the county.

Be sure to remove tinsel and decoration from the tree. No artificial trees will be recycled. When dropping off your tree, neatly stack trees in designated areas only.

Area residents can bring their tree to one of four locations. Those locations include:

  • Ogden Park, at 615 Ogden Park Drive
  • Home Depot, at 5511 Carolina Beach Road, and 210 Eastwood Road
  • New Hanover County Landfill, at 5210 U.S. Highway 421 N.

The service is a partnership between New Hanover County Environmental Management, New Hanover County Parks and Gardens, the City of Wilmington Solid Waste Division, and Home Depot. Call 910-798-4400 to learn more about the Christmas tree recycling program or visit the New Hanover County website.
