Where We Live: A weekly look at the homes in the Cape Fear Region
WILMINGTON — Looking for a home that’s big enough for a family, with a boat slip in the Myrtle Grove area of south Wilmington? You may find it in the waterfront community of John’s Creek.
This Cape Fear home is located on a .57-acre lot at 1308 Johns Creek Road. It’s a four bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home with the option to have a master bedroom either downstairs or on the second floor.
The brick home has a gas fireplace and built-in book shelves, as well as a formal dining room and living room. The home was purchased by an investor more than a year ago and renovated, according to Realtor Bea Desmond, with Nest Realty.
The kitchen was recently updated and has a gas stove, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and is slightly open to the living room area with plenty of natural light. Also in the update; fresh hardwood floors, fresh paint and new carpeting in the bedrooms.
Outside the home, guests walk up to a country-style front porch with plenty of room for the new home owner to place outdoor seating. The back yard is fenced-in, with a new deck that’s uniquely built around a tree. The deck drops down to a patio area, perfect for a grill or small fire pit. There is also a detached shed in the back yard for extra outdoor storage space.
The home comes with a 25-foot boat slip in the private neighborhood docks located on the Intracoastal Waterway. The boat slips can be found in the back of the neighborhood within about a 5 minute walk down John’s Creek Pier.
Desmond said the family-friendly neighborhood is known to have outdoor picnics and oyster roasts. At times, neighbors gather on the pier or at the small private beach area near the docks.
The John’s Creek community is outside Wilmington city limits and has a home owner’s association with annual dues at $900. This dig is currently on the market for $469,000.
