WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Train Museum, home of the Guinness World Record for Longest Model Train, is in full holiday swing – and there is still time to catch the “Christmas Train and Light Spectacular,” on Saturday, Dec. 24, with encore shows on Monday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 30.
The Wilmington Train Museum features faithful recreations of Wilmington and Wilson, N.C., in the mid-1950s era, when steam-powered locomotives starting giving way to diesel-powered trains. Featuring scenes from around the two towns – some of which still stand today, some of which are lost to history – the massive model displays run multiple trains. Be on the look out for Santa as well, both flying over the town and in the museum’s history section.
The “Christmas Train and Light Spectacular” runs from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Train Museum is located at 505 Nutt Street in downtown Wilmington, next to the convention center. Contact them for more information at the website, by phone at (910) 763-2634 or via email at wilmrrmus@ bizec.rr.com.
