With the Carolina Panthers win over the Washington Redskins Monday night, the team moved one game closer to an 8-8 season. And though it is a far fall from last year’s Super Bowl appearance, it is something to strive for according to the longtime play-by-play man for the team, Mick Mixon.
“That’s what the players want, to take some pleasure in dealing other teams some disappointing losses, to be mathematically still in it, although it is an extreme long-shot, to try to go 8 and 8 and have a non-losing season from where the Panthers have been this year,” Mixon said. “That will allow the Panthers to have a lot of momentum carried over into the off-season.”
Mixon was speaking to the Port City Morning Show host Linda Wylde and Port City Daily sports reporter Joe Catenacci in his weekly radio segment on the Panther’s Wilmington affiliate, The Dude 93.7 FM.
