SUPPLY — Charles Anthony “C.A.” Hewett Jr., 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hewett was born in Brunswick County on December 31, 1927, and was the son of the late Charles Anthony Hewett Sr. and Ettie Hewett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sellers Hewett; and a daughter, Judy Hewett McHenry.

He was the owner and operator of Hewett Marine Railway of Holden Beach for many years. Mr. Hewett was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the battleship USS Missouri and a longtime member of Supply Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Mark Hewett of Apex, N.C.; and a sister, Irene Bellamy of Supply.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Supply Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Raven and the Rev. Jesse Mooney officiating. An interment service will follow in Silent Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Bellamy, Allen Bellamy, Jody Clemmons, Leamon Clemmons, Jimmy Clemmons and Perry Sellers. Friends are invited to a time of visitation with the family at Supply Baptist Church on Sunday one hour prior to the funeral service.
