NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC — Voters in New Hanover County went to the polls to fill three spots on the Board of Commissioner on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Six candidates ran for the four-year terms, including incumbent Democrat Jonathan Barfield and incumbent Republican Woody White.
Republican Woody White won re-election to his second term on the board. He was previously a North Carolina State Senator in 2014.
Republican Patricia Kusek won election to her first term. She has been on the board of the Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority since 2011, serving as chair since 2014.
Democrat Jonathan Barfield won re-election to his third term on the board.
The results of the race are unofficial until the canvass on Nov. 18. At that time, provisional ballots and ballots postmarked on or near election day that had not arrived yet to be counted are tallied.
