One of two suspects has been arrested in connection with a shooting last week that injured a 7-year-old girl.

Anthony Mikhail Andrews, 20, of Wilmington, was arrested Saturday on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure or vehicle and a violation of a city ordinance, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

Detectives have charged Andrews with a shooting in the 1400 block of Wellington Avenue at the New Hanover Village Apartments. That happened at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Lindsay said. Callers to 911 reported several shots had been fired in the area.

Two men – a black and Hispanic male – had been spotted firing shots in a dispute outside the apartments. An apartment was struck by stray bullets.

A 7-year-old girl was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting and had been hit by glass shards as a stray bullet came through the apartment window. The girl was treated for her injuries at the scene.

Police are still searching for another suspect. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES. Start your message with Tip708, then type your tip.

Andrews is being held at the New Hanover County jail under a $750,000 secured bond.
