WILMINGTON — William Edward Pomnitz, 78, of Wilmington, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.
Bill was born July 28, 1938 in Philadelphia, Penn., son of the late William Edward Pomnitz Sr. and Theresa Dacri Pomnitz.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Air Corps. He retired from General Electric after 31 years of service. He was a devout member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan R. Pomnitz; son, William Edward Pomnitz, III of Mooresville, N.C.; daughter, Lisa Pomnitz of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Julianne Pomnitz and Nicole Pomnitz; sister, Elizabeth Rossi (Albert) of Atlanta, Ga.; nephew William Dautrich (Cindy) and their children, Deanna and Alyssa Dautrich, all of Atlanta.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. John McGee officiating. The U.S. Navy will provide military honors at the church following the service.
