Police search for suspect vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run

WILMINGTON — Police are in search of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run Wednesday that resulted in the death of 63-year-old Donald Salter.

Salter, of Wilmington, died from injuries he sustained while on Market Street in the area of South Kerr Avenue at around 7 p.m., according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.

The suspect vehicle struck Salter while he was crossing the street. Police say the driver of that vehicle never stopped.

Police are searching for the suspect vehicle, which is believed to be a 2007-2013 model Chevrolet or GMC, truck or SUV, Rawley said. The vehicle is believed to have sustained damage to a side view mirror.
