WILMINGTON — Jeffrey W. Hauser, 63, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born on April 18, 1953, in Oceanside, New York, to Albert and Marion Hauser. During his life, He resided in Bayport, New York, Lake Monticello, Virginia, and settled down in Wilmington, North Carolina.

From a young age, he had a strong work ethic and determination and was the proud recipient of many gold medals from the Special Olympics. He worked until the age of 60 (with Down Syndrome) as a busboy/dishwasher at Friendly’s Ice Cream in New York, the OMNI Hotel in Virginia and Henry’s Restaurant in North Carolina. He loved to worship the Lord and sing praises, and loved his beloved dog, Blue. He also enjoyed bowling, and ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Col Albert Hauser, USMC. Survivors include his mother, Marion S. Hauser; brothers, Tom Hauser (Ginny), Mark Hauser (Susan) and Doug Hauser (Jen); nieces and nephews, Sara, Katie, Daniel, Laura, Amy, Brian, Jacob and Hannah Hauser and Brian and Christopher Goldhorn; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and his beloved dog, Blue.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Global River Church.
