WILMINGTON — Ahead of a six-month road closure of Beasley Road in Wilmington, the city is hosting an informational meeting for area residents on Monday.

The drop-in session will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. at the Masonboro Fire Station at 3335 Masonboro Loop Road, according to a notice from the city. Construction on Beasley Road is scheduled to begin in November. Beasley Road will be closed to all traffic between Wilton Court and Chelon Avenue while work is underway.

Anyone who would like to learn more about the $4 million drainage improvement project is encouraged to drop by and talk with engineers and drainage experts about the project.

The project calls for the replacement of the aging bridge on Beasley Road. Plans include the construction of a modern concrete structure that will replace the old bridge, and an expansion of the bridge from 15 to 50 feet. The bridge expansion will allow for improved drainage.

The construction work will take approximately 6 months to compete. For more information about the Brookshire-Beasley Stormwater Improvement Project visit the city’s website.
