ROCKY POINT — Roscoe Morris Highfill Jr., 71, of Rocky Point, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Monday Sept. 26, 2016. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Jan. 2, 1945, to the late R.M. Highfill, Sr. and Mary Atkinson

Mr. Highfill enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and watching old movies. He was a Vietnam war veteran and a retired 40-year employee of General Electric in Wilmington. He was a born again child of God and is now in the presence of his Savior. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise; his son Jonathan (Leah); two grandchildren, Caleb and Charity; his mother, Mary Atkinson; brother, Buck Atkinson; sister, Barbara Jackson; nephews, Bobby Memory and Daniel Jackson; nieces Rena Thomas (Dave) and Michelle Standerfer.

A visitation from 1-2 p.m. will be held Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Grace Baptist Church, 1401 N. College Road. A funeral service will be immediately following at 2 p.m. with Reverend J.D. Herchehahn and Reverend Jay Knolls officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
