Three of the four Wilmington high schools cruised to impressive wins last Friday as Hoggard and Laney opened conference play.

New Hanover bounced back in their first home game since week one, while Ashley struggled to get the offensive going in a 28-6 setback to West Brunswick.

New Hanover was led by Wiz Vaughn in a 49-21 win against Purnell Swett. Vaughn had over 200 yards rushing. Rashod Wallace paced Hoggard’s run game as the Vikings rolled to a 50-13 triumph over South Brunswick.

Defensive end Ryan Daborowski had a huge night for Laney’s defense, with four sacks, as the Bucs posted a shutout in a 42-0  victory at Topsail.
