23rd Annual Wrightsville Beach Bark in the Park looking for canine athletes

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – Got a four-legged friend who loves to play Frisbee? The 23rd annual Wrightsville Beach Bark in the Park is looking for participants for its 2016 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships.

Dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, colors and experience levels are welcome to register for the free event. Competitors will be scored on the distance and accuracy of the catches, and mid-air catches will be worth extra points.

In addition to naming a winner of the flying disc competition, there will also be prizes for best dressed dog (costumes are optional), best dressed team and for the dog displaying the most personality. Those awards will be voted on by spectators.

The event is free to both spectators and competitors. It will be held at Wrightsville Beach Park, 321 Causeway Drive, starting at 11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 1. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
