CHICAGO — The Chicago Sky play host to the Atlanta Dream in a single elimination playoff contest at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday, Sept. 22, on ESPN 2 as the WNBA postseason heads down the stretch.
Chicago will likely be the shorthanded team on Sunday as Elena Delle Donne was ruled out indefinitely following thumb surgery last week. Despite not having the reigning league MVP in the lineup for the final five games of the regular season, the Sky were able to go 3-2 down the stretch to secure the No. 4 seed and a first round bye in the playoffs.
Laney High School alum Tamera Young has seen extended playing time since Delle Donne went down.
The eight-year WNBA veteran averaged 5.6 points and 24.2 minutes per game this season. She had a season-high 24 points on Sept. 2 against Seattle, with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and nine rebounds in a win over New York Liberty on Sept. 16. Young has played over 30 minutes in four of the final six games to close the schedule.
The Dream won the season series, 2-1, but lost the only game played in Chicago, which was also the most recent game between the two teams on Aug. 26 as the Sky picked up a 90-82 win in the first game after the Olympic break.
