PENDER COUNTY — Due to flooding across the county from Thursday’s rain, Pender County Schools will have delayed starts on Friday morning.

According to an email from spokeswoman Miranda Roberts, Pender County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Sept. 23.

Parts of Pender County received six to nine inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service Wilmington’s radar information. The hardest hit part of the county, according to the weather service, was the coastal area along Highway 17, from Hampstead all the way to the Onslow County line.
