SOUTHPORT – John Elworth Listman, 55, of Southport passed away on Sept. 13, 2016. John was born May 6, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was a loving man who never met a stranger. He had such a love for life and made sure to live each day to the fullest. Mr. Listman was a true beacon of light in this world and touched the lives of many around him. He was always smiling and tried to make everyone around him laugh. John was widely known around the area as the owner of Sharon’s Linens & Beach Rentals, which he managed with his wife, Sandra. He could always be seen driving around Oak Island welcoming visitors with a simple wave through the work truck. He was such a character and his loving laugh and charm will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Listman; his parents Louis and Barbara Listman; a son Mitchell Lagunas; three daughters, Amanda Morrison and husband, Mike, Nicole Martin, and Nicole Lee; a sister Joan Dodge and husband, John; six grandchildren; two nephews, Zach Dodge and wife, Mikayla, and JB Dodge; and his faithful companion Mia.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Eiss officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
In keeping with John’s spirit, the family requests you arrive comfortably in casual attire (jean, shorts, t-shirt, etc.) to honor his memory.
A reception will follow in the funeral homes banquet room.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name be made to the Southport / Oak Island Animal Rescue, 3376 St Charles Pl SE, Southport, NC 28461.
