With New Hanover and Ashley both coming off a bye heading into week five of the high school football season, Wednesday’s edition of Sports Round Table features an interview of Wildcats’ second-year defensive coordinator Tim Smith, in addition to player interviews with Ashley High School seniors Jacob Reed and Bradley Plyler.

The New Hanover County Schools TV produced show, with host Joe Catenacci, airs at 8 p.m. each Wednesday night on Time Warner Cable Channel 5 during the football season.

Smith talked about changes within the defensive unit for New Hanover moving into the season along with key players to look for moving into a big road test against Scotland County on Friday, Sept. 16. Plyler and Reed commented on season two under Head Coach Jeff Turner. Reed is a senior, but a first-year quarterback for the Screaming Eagles, while Plyler has rushed for over 100 yards in each of Ashley’s two wins this season.

Hoggard Head Coach Craig Underwood also stopped by the show to break down film following the Vikings’ 14-13 setback against Carolina Forest. Laney Head Coach Aashad Yeoman kicks off Sports Round Table with the Bucs improving to 2-2 overall after a 14-7 come from behind win at home over Northern Nash.
