WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH – Preparations for the third annual Flavor of North Carolina event are well underway and organizers are still looking for sponsors and items to be auctioned off.
According to Carolyn Gonzalez, associate development director of the Good Shepherd Center, which hosts the event, the “casual gala” will feature food, drinks, dancing, games and more.
“It’ll kind of be a pig-picking,” Gonzalez said, adding that about 200 guests are expected. “We’ll have games and we’re also doing a silent auction, so we’re always looking for items for prizes.”
Sponsors, which range from $250 to $10,000 are also being sought for the event. The proceeds will benefit the work the Good Shepherd Center does to help feed and house homeless individuals and families in the Cape Fear region and provide them with resources to transition them to self-sufficiency.
The Flavor of North Carolina will be held on Oct. 29 at a new venue, the Blockade Runner Resort in Wrightsville Beach, after previously being held at St. James Episcopal Church. The theme of the event is a fall harvest festival at the beach. Tickets are on sale now for $60 per person.
