Rise Biscuits Donuts offers free tastings this week ahead of grand opening in Wilmington

Rise WilmingtonWILMINGTON – Rise Biscuits Donuts will soon open its doors for the first time in Wilmington. The Durham based chain is bringing its sweet and savory concept to the beach this Saturday.

Ahead of its grand opening this weekend, the shop is hosting free tastings this week at its new location at 1319 Military Cutoff Road in the Landfall Shopping Center. Guests are invited to preview the new store while they get their first taste of Rise Wilmington biscuits and donuts.

The shop will have a free biscuit tasting at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, and free doughnuts tasting at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The free tastings are while supplies last. Both events are open to the public.

Rise Biscuits Donuts is touted as a phenomenon in the Triangle since its first Durham store opened in 2012. The store has won several local and national awards, as well as a TV appearance on Food Network’s “Donut Showdown.” Rise was voted Best Biscuit in the Triangle two years in a row and ranked among the best biscuits in the country by Food & Wine Magazine.

The brand serves up unique biscuit and doughnut flavors in a to-go format, with a constantly rotating menu.

Rise serves biscuit sandwiches featuring everyday fillings, like country ham, fried chicken and sausage, cheese, spreads and eggs made to any style. The shop also features monthly specialty gourmet biscuits.

Donuts share equal billing and are divided into old school, new school and our school categories, boasting flavors like the Maple Bacon Bar, Crème Brulee Donut and Pineapple Basil with Pistachios Donut.
