Wilmington fights early morning electrical fire

WILMINGTON – There were no injuries, but a home was seriously damaged by fire in the early morning hours of Labor Day.

The Wilmington Fire Department dispatched crews responded to 4210 Peachtree Ave. at 4:23 a.m., according to a release from the department.

“Crews arrived to find heavy flames visible from a single story residential structure,” the release states.

The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and the scene was cleared just after 6:30 a.m.

Fire Investigator determined the fire to be accidental and caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates were reported to be $44,000.
