ROCKY POINT – Jasper Lee Willetts Jr. of Rocky Point passed all too soon from his earthy life on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at his home.
He was born July 6, 1961, in Wilmington, the son of the late Jasper Lee Willetts Sr. and Sylvia Reaves Willetts. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Ray Willetts.
Mr. Willetts is survived by his wife, Wendy J. Willetts; his children, Jessica Willetts, Stephanie Chambers (William), McKenzie Willetts, Dillon Cohen, Dylan McGuire, and Calin McGuire; brothers, William Willetts (Abby) and Jimmie Willetts (Missy); sister, Sylvia Ann Boswell; best friend of many years, Pete Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
For many years he was employed with GoGas and most recently he was a general contractor, owning his own business, Jasper Willetts Construction LLC.
He loved his family and was an exceptional husband, daddy, soon-to-be granddaddy, brother and friend. Among his many interests were race cars. Mr. Willetts had an engaging personality, a sunny smile, and a strong work ethic. Though his earthly journey came to completion without warning, his spirit radiates that much brighter in our hearts.
Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug.1, 2016, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with The Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Family Cemetery. Casketbearers will be William Willetts, Jimmie Willetts, Pete Smith, William Chambers, Dillon Cohen and Mark Pope.
