Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are searching for Shayla Da’nia Bryant and her 1-year-old son, who were reported to be missing after a shooting in Supply early Saturday morning. The two are believed to be in the company of a person of interest in the incident.

Bryant, 21, and her son were last seen at about 8:32 a.m. by their family at the scene of the shooting in the 500 block of Cedar Grove Road, near the intersection of Stone Chimney Road, in Supply, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Detectives suspect Bryant and her son are in the company of 28-year-old Dwight Powell Jr., who is a person of interest in the shooting. Powell is considered to be armed and dangerous. Bryant may be accompanying Powell against her will, according to authorities.

The two were last seen in Bryant’s black 2003 Honda Pilot with North Carolina license plate PCK-4315, but could also be in a gold 2006 Chevrolet Impala with North Carolina license plate number BBS-1087.

Bryant is a black female who about is 5-feet, 2-inches tall with tattoos on her chest. The most recent communications with Shayla by her family indicate that she is in South Carolina, but a specific location is not known.

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Bryant and her son is asked to contact Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detective Mitchell McCaffity at 910-363-6555 or call 911.
