CAROLINA BEACH – If you plan on taking a drive to Carolina Beach this weekend, watch where you’re driving. A new traffic pattern has been established at one intersection.

The change is located at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Lake Park Boulevard, according to a notice from the town Thursday. Traffic on Lake Park Boulevard can no longer turn east onto Atlanta Avenue.

The alteration to the intersection has been made to provide more safety to pedestrians who use the crosswalk at the intersection, the notice said.

A turn lane has been installed in the southbound lane of Lake Park Boulevard at Woody Hewitt Avenue to allow vehicles to access to the area. A left turn lane has also been installed in the northbound lane of Lake Park Boulevard at Atlanta Avenue for vehicles headed west onto Atlanta Avenue.

Signs have been placed in key areas to help drivers find the parking lots in that section of Carolina Beach.
