WILMINGTON – Joseph John Cincotta, 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at his residence, with his family by his side.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1936, in New York, son of the late John and Josephine Cincotta.

He attended Ohio State University for two years, where he also played football. He then transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson University where he received his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. He later received his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.

Mr. Cincotta was totally devoted to his wife of 50 years, Edythe Cincotta, who preceded him in death in 2008. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, enjoyed working on his cars, woodworking and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children, Joseph Eugene Cincotta, Joanne Cura (husband Carl Anthony Cura, deceased, 2003); their children, Garrett Cura, Kyle Cura and Ellie Cura; and Christopher John Cincotta and wife Lisa Cincotta and their children, Christopher Cincotta, Robert Cincotta and Matthew Cincotta; siblings, Thomas Cincotta, and twins Eugene Cincotta (deceased 1969) and Carmela J. Calandriello.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, at Andrew Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, also at the mortuary with Rev. John McGee officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington.
