WILMINGTON — Detectives have charged a Wilmington man with the murder of a pregnant Lillington woman at the Best Western hotel last week.

He faces two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths 21-year-old Ashley Ann Mclean and her unborn child, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Ralwey.

Mclean was found dead inside a room at the Best Western Plus at 5345 Market St. just before 1 p.m. Friday. According to a 911 call released by New Hanover County Emergency Services, a man called to report a woman with no pulse on the second floor of the hotel.
