Douglas McKinney found the back of the net twice in the first half and recorded the hat trick with his third score in the 54th minute to guide Coastal Christian past Topsail 4-1 on Wednesday.
Walker Henderson assisted McKinney’s opening goal 20 minutes into the match before the Centurion standout tallied for the second time seven minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Henderson grabbed his second assist on McKinney’s hat trick, while Matt Ward made it a three goal advantage five minutes into the second half.
Coastal Christian moved to 2-0-0 overall this season.

Kasey Pfaff won a marathon three hour match on court four during singles play Wednesday, while No.1 doubles team Caroline Harris and Sierra Dougherty clinched the team win as the Pirates grabbed a 6-3 victory against Swansboro.
After taking the opening set 7-6, Pfaff fell 3-6 to Casey Carroll, but rallied to a 10-8 triumph in the third set tiebreaker to put the Pirates in good position for the win. Harris has not dropped a game this season following a 6-0, 6-0 straight set sweep over Grace Ann Piner at No. 1 singles. Topsail took four of six individual matches to gain control of the match.
