Mira Janet Stallings Conrad, age 79, of Wilmington and formerly of the Wallace area left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Monday, August 15, 2016 from NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Wilmington.

She was born on April 11, 1937 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Marion Timothy Stallings and the late Marie Jones Stallings Murray. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ordie Conrad Jr.; son, Jeff Conrad; brother, Tim Stallings and sister-in-law, Judy Stallings.

Janet was a charter member of Poston Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a vital part of Mission Friends as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of American Legion Post #156 Auxiliary.

Surviving to cherish her memories are her devoted children, Paul Conrad and wife Barb of Hudson, Florida, Ordie Conrad III and wife Sophia and Cheryl White and husband Jan, all of Rocky Point, Debora Thomas and husband Chris of Raleigh and Anita Benton and husband Charles of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Eric Stallings and wife Sylvia of Willard, Cecil Stallings and wife Zonita of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jeff Murray and wife Shelby of Wallace and Joe Stallings of Castle Hayne; sister-in-law, Mary Stallings of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends who loved her dearly.

Janet was a loving mother and caring grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. Her favorite pastime was buying items at yard sales and reselling them. With her spunky attitude and outgoing personality, Janet never met a stranger and was always full of energy. She was more than just a grandmother; she was a playmate who really played with her grandchildren. Janet loved her Lord, her family and her church; she was faithful to all as long as her health permitted. Janet will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Poston Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Joe Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family of Mira Janet Conrad would like to especially say “Thank you” to the staff of NorthChase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and compassionate care that was given to their mother and grandmother during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be given to Poston Baptist Church, 4121 S NC Hwy 11, Wallace, NC 28466.
