Wilmington detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a young woman at a Market Street hotel.

Police responded to an EMS call at the Best Western Plus University Inn at 5345 Market St. just before 1 p.m. Friday,  according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. A young woman was found dead inside one of the hotel rooms. She was not an employee of the hotel.

Detectives were still at the hotel conducting their investigation at about 2:45 p.m. Friday. Lindsay said the woman’s death “does not appear to be of natural causes.” Police ruled the death a homicide late Friday afternoon.

“There is no definitive cause of death at this point. It is still very early on in the investigation,” Lindsay said Friday afternoon.
