WILMINGTON – Sabrina Rivers Leonard Burnett, 46, of Wilmington, N.C., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 27, 2016.

Ms. Burnett was born Oct. 24, 1969, in Wilmington, N.C.

She studied biology at UNC-Wilmington and chemistry at Cape Fear Community College, which led her to a career as a chemical analyst at Corning Inc. After several years she pursued other endeavors, including real estate.

She was known as a giving person and one who put others first, especially her children. Before her children were born, she volunteered much of her time to Life Line Pregnancy Center of Wilmington and to mentoring children through the Cape Fear Volunteer Center’s “Big Buddy” program.

She was passionate about the ocean and boating, enjoyed traveling, truly loved her family, but most of all she loved her Lord. She always wanted her children, nieces and nephews to strive to be the best they could be and had a special place in her heart for any animal, especially her cat “Bella.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ray Leonard, and her sister, Kimberly Rae Leonard.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Esther Leonard of Wilmington, N.C., her sister, Pamela Mercer (Johnny Mercer) of Wilmington, N.C., her sister, Rhonda Hutson (Michael) of Wilmington, N.C.; her daughters, Gabby Burnett, Hannah Burnett and Sophie Burnett, all of Durham, N.C.; three nieces and two nephews.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, N.C. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made at to assist in the funding of the education of Sabrina’s daughters.
