Annie graduated cum laude from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and went onto a career at IBM, first with the company’s credit union as personnel manager, then branch manager. She went on to a senior purchasing position with IBM’s General Technologies Group, a position in which she traveled the country to negotiate with vendors.

She married the love of her life, Peter Otten, in 1984. Annie was an awesome stay-at-home mom for 18 years. During those years, she was involved in many organizations in the school district, including PTAs, and helped organize events throughout her daughter’s schooling.

Annie and Peter moved to North Carolina in 2012, and she became very active in the community, volunteering at Thalian Hall and working the box office. She also worked at Ticket Central at CFCC Wilson Center. Annie was instrumental in her community of Waterford, devoting time with the Communications Committee, the Social Committee, and she was active in the New Hanover County Newcomers Club.

In addition to her parents, Annie is survived by her husband, Peter; her daughter, Amanda; her brother, Stanley Kardas (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Annie’s name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, or to Zimmer Cancer Center, 2131 S. 17th St., Wilmington NC 28401.
