WILMINGTON – Contemporary North Carolina artist Dan Campbell will be featured in a special art exhibition next weekend at a downtown gallery.

The Wilmington community is invited to see Campbell’s paintings on display at River to Sea Gallery and Wine Shop, 224 South Water St., from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, according to a release from the downtown business.

Campbell was recently the featured artist in March at a Gala at the North Carolina Museum of Art as well as numerous exhibitions at galleries in Cary, N.C., his hometown. This exhibition, titled “Colors of the Coast,” will feature many of his recent seascape pieces.

“I’m easily inspired by the ocean in all its grandeur, color and charm,” Campbell said.

Campbell’s art is modern impressionism combined with spontaneous semi-abstraction. His unique use of color, form and texture merge to create a vivid encounter, to engage the audience and subject, the release states. Campbell’s eclectic style seeks to unfold certain drama, with color setting the mood and an eruption of texture to help create soulful emotion.

“I love it when people can really feel a painting, not just see it with their eyes,” Campbell said.

River to Sea Gallery features over thirty local artists offering their finest creations, according to the business’ Facebook page. The gallery showcases the work of husband and wife team Tim and Rebecca Duffy Bush and offers full custom framing.
