Anna LaVoye “Sister” Picone, 83, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in the early morning of July 26, 2016.

She was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Maysville, N.C., to the late Rodney W. Arthur and Anna Belle Long. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Battista J. Picone; and her dear sister, Mary Helen George.

She is survived by her son, John Picone (Melissa); her daughter, Anna Rose; her granddaughters, Maria Rose and Michelle Rose; her brothers, Rodney Arthur, Virgil Arthur, Gerald Arthur and Billy Arthur; as well as an extended family of many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Anna’s life will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter at http://www.hospiceandlifecarecenter.org/, in appreciation of their care and compassion for her in these last months.
