Wilmington native Derek Brunson is back in the gym after being scratched from the UFC 200 card this July and the up-and-coming superstar in the octagon has found his next opponent.
After months of trash talking through social media, Brunson will finally get a chance to meet Uriah Hall as part of a co-main event during UFC Fight Night 94 on Sept. 17 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The card is likely to air on Fox Sports 1.
Brunson (15-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC), listed at No. 10 in the UFC middleweight rankings, has won four straight fights, with three consecutive first-round knockouts. After defeating Roan Carneiro in Pittsburgh back in February, Brunson had to pull out of his most recent bout just weeks before the scheduled contest against Gegard Mousasi in Las Vegas after suffering from double vision. He has since been cleared to train and took to Twitter immediately after getting his next fight scheduled.
@DerekBrunson: Fight fans have been asking for this, for 2 years. One of the most explosive match ups you can make in MMA. Sept.
Hall (12-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC), ranked at No. 9 among UFC middleweight contenders, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Robert Whitaker at UFC 193.
