Doris Elizabeth Ash, 80, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Care Center.
She was born in Charleston, W.V., to the Rev. Oma and Russell Lanham.
Doris retired from the Social Security Administration after 30 years of service. She was a long-term member of The National Exchange Club, serving in numerous capacities and being the recipient of many community service awards, including the Court of Honor award in Toledo, Ohio.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Margaret Jackson and Mabel Turley; and her brother, the Rev. Bill Lanham.
Doris was the wife to the love of her life, Clyde Ash Jr., for 61 years.
Survivors include her three children, Beverly Haedrich, (Ken) of Wilmington, N.C., Clyde Ash III (Kathy) of Lexington, S.C., and Lisa Scheu (Ronnie) of Wilmington, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Bryan Moss, Elizabeth Province and John Meekins.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, N.C. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
