A homeless man has been arrested after a stabbing at a Carolina Beach business that injured a maintenance worker who then got into a wreck trying to get help.

Carolina Beach Police responded to a wreck in the 600 block of Columbia Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and found the driver of the vehicle had been stabbed multiple times, according to a news release from the town’s police department.

The driver told police he was completing maintenance on one of the machines at Melissa’s Laundromat, 702 S. Lake Park Blvd., when someone came up behind him and stabbed him multiple times. The victim left the business for help and was attempting to drive himself to the laundromat owner’s residence on Columbia Avenue where he crashed his car.

The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening. He has since been released from the hospital.

Investigators gathered information on the suspect and arrested 20-year-old Watson Dylan Taylor in the 700 block of Spartanburg Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. Detectives allege Taylor was trying to rob the victim when the victim was stabbed.

Taylor was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. He was booked at the New Hanover County Jail under a $400,000 secured bond.
