Mrs. Clara Capps Phelps, 73, of Supply, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Clara was born in Sampson County, North Carolina, to the late Herman Lee Capps and Mrs. Evelyn Harrell Moore of Boiling Spring Lakes, North Carolina. She retired from the insurance industry after a total of 37 years, during which she worked at Coastal Insurance, Brunswick Farm Supply and CWS. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and attended Full Life Fellowship Church.
A true lady in every sense of the word, she was one who always put her God and family above all else. Being a gentle-spirited lady she will be fondly remembered for her quiet times reading poetry and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her mother, Evelyn Harrell Moore of Boiling Spring Lakes-Southport; her loving husband of 54 years, Charles H. ‘Buck’ Phelps; two daughters, Pamela Gail Phelps of Ash, North Carolina and Denise Phelps McKeithan and husband Danny of Supply; two brothers, H. Lee Capps and wife Jewel of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Alton Capps of Greensboro, North Carolina;a sister, Margaret Rothstein and husband Gilbert of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Matthew Harris, Brittany Harris Stanley, Kelsey L. McKeithan and Garett S. McKeithan; five great-grandchildren, Caden Stanley, Bella Stanley, Jacob Harris, Kamyrah McKeithan and Jaxston McKeithan; nieces, Bethany Tyndall and Traci Smith (Joe); great-nieces, Jessica, Ellie, Hunter and Ashland; and great-nephew Dalton.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Interment will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery, Supply, North Carolina.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in the White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel.
Casket bearers will be Danny Phelps, Ray Long, James Long, Glenn Phelps, Leamon Clemmons and Chris Clemmons. Honorary casket bearer will be Reverend Lonnie Varnam.
