Louise Karako, 89, lived in many places before settling in Hampstead

Louise Karako, 89, of Hampstead, passed peacefully on July 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by family.

Born March 8, 1927, in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara Kattic Grivna.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Karako, in February 2006.

Louise is remembered as being always on the go – volunteering at NHRMC, her church and in her community, demonstrating at the grocery store, and doing pilates. She enjoyed shopping, especially for clothing, and was active in her garden club and her sorority. She also loved entertaining friends and family.

She had traveled throughout the United States and lived in many places – McKeesport, Pa., to Orange, Texas, to Gadsden, Ala., back to McKeesport, Pa., then to North Huntingdon, Pa., and finally Hampstead, N.C.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Karako (Suzanne) of Norfolk, Va.; her sisters, Patricia Eisenbeiss of Monte Carlo, and Judy Muenzberg of Philadelphia; and her nieces, Alexandra Muenzberg of Brooklyn and Amelia Muenzberg of New Orleans.

A brief graveside ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Topsail Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Topsail Presbyterian Church.
