Alma Mae Chaney, 72 of Oak Island, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the SECU Hospice House in Bolivia.

Mrs. Chaney was born April 26, 1944, in Laurinburg, N.C., the daughter of the late James and Lora Smith. She had worked as a nurse in Connecticut and as a hairdresser and computer input technician in many places across the country.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, James Chaney of Oak Island; a daughter, Cheryl Dutksa of Austin, Texas; and a granddaughter, Alyson Dutska.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 16,  at Peacock, Newnam & White Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Pinkston officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Cape Fear Memorial Park.
