Local, state and government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Independence Day.


City offices will be closed on Monday, July 4. Trash service will run on a regular schedule. City customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Monday are asked to have all items curbside by 7:30 a.m. Monday. City recycling customers who are on the BLUE schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Mondays should place their recycling containers curbside by 7:30 a.m., as well. New Hanover County

All New Hanover County government office will be closed on the Forth of July. New Hanover County libraries will be closed Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4.

The New Hanover County Landfill, located at at 5210 U.S. Highway 421 North, will be closed on Monday. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling facility will also close. The facilities are regularly closed on Sundays.

All town offices at Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach will be closed on Monday, July 4.

Brunswick County

Brunswick County government offices will be closed on Independence Day. All county libraries, the solid waste office, convenience centers and county landfill will be closed. Curbside garbage and recycling collection will operate on a regular schedule on Monday, July 4.

The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners’ first monthly meeting, which would have taken place on July 4, has been canceled. Their next meeting will be held on Monday, July 18 starting at 6 p.m.


All federal and state offices will be closed Monday. The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail and banks will be closed.
