Barbara Jean Henney Cameron, 91, loved planning Manistee Lake summer vacations

Barbara Jean Henney Cameron, 91, passed away peacefully, Saturday June 25, 2016.

She was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., on March 7, 1925, to the late Orville Grover and Marion Holmes Henney.

Barbara proudly supported the war effort in USO during her college years. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. Barbara met the love of her life at Manistee Lake, Mich., and was married October 5, 1946; the marriage lasted for 51 wonderful years. She loved planning Manistee Lake summer vacations with her family.

She guided and taught life’s lessons to all around her and was an avid writer for the Wilmington senior news column. She loved to play bridge and organized bridge clubs in several states. She will be missed dearly by her friends. She was a member of Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. Cameron; son-in-law, James F. Caruso; and brother, Robert Henney.

She will be missed by her children, James (Margaret) Cameron, Patricia (David) Denman and Kimberly (James) Caruso. She cherished her grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Denman, Lisa (William) Sligh, Christine (Dan) Higbee and Michelle Caruso; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Austin Denman and Ellie Sligh.

A family service celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Canton, Mich.
