Mildred Ortiz, 56, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.
Mildred attended Bronx Community College, where she attained an AAS in nursing in 1981, before attending the Florida International University, where she received her BSN.
Family and friends were Mildred’s love and joy. She loved decorating, both inside the house and out; a testament of her abilities. She enjoyed painting and refinishing furniture. She loved to fish and was an avid photographer.
Mildred is survived by her wife, Cathy English, and her four kids, Webster, Beja, Pelusita and Lily. She is also survived by her parents, Julio and Petra Ortiz; as well as her sister, Gloria Bonet. She leaves behind a host of caring relatives and friends.
Mildred will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. She was well known for her humor, kind heart, and generosity.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in Wilmington. The date has yet to be determined.
