Norbin Wood Kirk, 91, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 2, 1924, in Olcott, W.Va., a son of the late Hobson and Effie Wood Kirk.

Mr. Kirk was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and later retired from the McJunkin Corporation, Charleston, W.Va. He was an avid golfer and was employed by many golf courses in Horry and Brunswick County.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Doris Laudenslager Kirk; son, James Douglas Kirk; two daughters, Constance Sue Nelson and Jan Leigh Shiere; two step-children; two sisters, Carolyn Vogel and Nora Miller; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

A celebration of life and resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
