Gail Ann L. Voit, 74, enthusiastic supporter of the UConn Women Huskies

Gail Ann L. Voit, 74, of Sunset Beach, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016. She was born in Springfield, Mass., on October 28, 1941, a daughter of John A. Longmore and Dorothy Wilmont Longmore.

She earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Manchester Community College 1992, and bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science from Charter Oak College in 1996. She was employed at the University of Connecticut from 1969 to 1996, primarily in the Graduate School as budget administrator and scholarship coordinator. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Church in Ocean Isle Beach and served on the annual Tea Committee.

She enjoyed gardening, walking, tennis and biking. She enjoyed reading, particularly royal English history. She loved to travel, particularly to down east Maine, where she spent a large part of her childhood. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the UConn Women Huskies. She loved owls. She was a superb organizer and friend to all.

May her spirit soar.

Surviving are her husband, Rudy F. Voit; son, David Tutty (Victoria) of Manchester, Conn.; brother, Hugh Longmore (Cheryl) of Glastonbury, Mass.; sister, Mary Stacy (E. Donald) of Wilbraham, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Barakat of Troy, Mich., and Kathryn Collin of Mystic, Conn.; and six nephews, two nieces and three grand-nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ocean Isle Beach, with the Rev. Henry Rehder officiating.
