Robert Dean Stanley Sr., 78, of Castle Hayne, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home. Mr. Stanley was born April 21, 1938, in Myrtle Beach, the son of the late Elisha Maryland Stanley and Annie Blanche Johnson Stanley.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and a member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church. Mr. Stanley worked his entire life in the landscaping business. He was the owner and operator of Robert D. Stanley Landscaping Co. Inc., which has been in business since 1946. His proudest moments were spent with his family. A true outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He always grew enough vegetables to share with friends and neighbors.

Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Marie Hobbs Stanley.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Stanley; son, Robert Dean Stanley Jr., and his wife, Lucrecia, of Burgaw; three daughters, Kim Siebert, and her husband, Eric, of Burgaw, Renee Bass, and her husband, Jimmy, of Castle Hayne, and Allyson Lawrence of Holly Springs; two stepdaughters, Terri Champion, and her husband, Robbie, of Conway, S.C., and Dawn Ames, and her wife, Connie, of Wilmington; brothers, Joseph Bridger of Mobile, Ala., and Frank Stanley, and his wife, Sammie, of North Charleston, S.C.; sister, Edith Jobe of Mobile, Ala; 10 grandchildren, Missy, Mandy, Heather, Tony, Will, Lauren, Brett, Cole, Kristina and Dillon; 11 great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Jane Porter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Lewis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wrightsboro Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2736 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington, NC 28401.
