Annie ‘Ann’ Burleson, 92, loved and served her church for 40 years

‘To live is Christ, to Die is Gain’ (Philip. 1:21). Annie ‘Ann’ Burleson, 92, of Leland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

She was born in Robeson County on November 16, 1923, to the late Barto and Emma Sampson Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; six siblings, Tracy Clark, Wilma Sanderson, Raymond Clark, Juanita Revells, Barto Clark Jr. and Vernette Williams; and son, Lloyd Oxendine.

Living to cherish her memories are her sons, Eric Oxendine (Josephine) of New York, N.Y., and Jerry Burleson (Cindy) of Hampstead; along with her grandchildren, Shara Lynn Oxendine, Sequoia Oxendine, Christie Cahoon, Jeremy Burleson, Matthew Burleson and Andrew Burleson; and four great-grandchildren. Ann loved and was loved by her family and friends.

She also loved and served in her church for 40 years. The only thing she loved more than her family and church was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Today, she is in her heavenly home.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, at New Hope Baptist Church, Leland. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 2727 Mount Misery Road, Leland, NC 28451; or Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation.
