Eleanor Sneeden Davis, 87, fed her soul by cooking and delivering meals to less fortunate

Eleanor Sneeden Davis, 87, of Wilmington, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Brookdale of Dickinson Assisted Living Facility in Greenville. She was born January 5, 1929, in Wilmington, a daughter of the late Stephen E. Sneeden and Effie Harper Sneeden.

Eleanor was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family and delivering many of those meals to those less fortunate. She also enjoyed all the friends in her ‘coffee club.’

Her husband, John Calvin Davis Sr., preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, John Calvin Davis Jr. (Linda) of Raleigh; daughter, Lynsey Davis McLean (Gary) of Greenville; three grandchildren, Megan McLean Moeller (Jim), Lauren Davis Saldana (Santiago) and James Dean McLean (Stephanie); two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose Moeller and Maxwell Saldana; sister, Effie Sneeden Green (Howard); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Andrews Valley Chapel with the Rev. Bill Milholland officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
