Nancy Furtado Jaynes, 84, of Hampstead, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
She was born in Fall River, Mass., on May 4, 1932, and later moved to Waynesville during her teenage years. She settled and made her home in Atlanta, Ga., for 50 years. In 2014, she moved to Hampstead to enjoy living on the East Coast and share time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles C. Furtado and Doris Shackleton Furtado; and husband, Harry E. Jaynes.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Furtado Avery of Wilmington; brother, Charles C Furtado II of Jonesboro, Ga.; daughter, Deborah S. Jaynes of Hampstead; son, Gary C. Jaynes of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Marc (Megan) Jaynes of New Orleans, La., and Stacie Leigh Jaynes of Savannah, Ga.; and nieces and nephew, Janet Morrison Yow, Nancy Morrison Holland and William Stephen (Suzanne) Morrison of Wilmington and Mary Margaret Furtado Judge of Atlanta, Ga.
A private family ocean-side ceremony will be held at Wrightsville Beach to honor her life.
