James Allen ‘Buck’ Taylor, 78, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born on May 14, 1938, in Kinston to Lawrence and Annie Taylor.

Buck faithfully served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years, where he performed duties under the U.S. Navy Seals program and later for Homeland Security.

Buck is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances; sons, Robert (Beth) of Cumberland, Wis., Mike (Debora) of Huntsville, Ala., Russell (Amy) of Hillsborough, Jeff (Colleen) of Roseboro and Kenney (Kim) of New Orleans, La.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one adopted son, Alan Haithcock of Hillsborough.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1535 South 41st St., Wilmington. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A presentation of military honors will be rendered in recognition of James’ honorable and faithful service to his country.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to PTSD Foundation of America, North & South Carolina Chapter.
